Reported in the Canberra Times, DSpark mobility data indicates that visits to the Canberra central business district, Civic, has changed in recent weeks. Our data indicates that trips to and around Civic have returned to approximately two-thirds of the levels observed prior to lockdown. Notably, visits on Saturdays have exceeded visits on Tuesdays, indicating that weekend activity has begun to increase as Omicron cases continue to decline in Australia's capital city.
Our data has also indicated that, on the second Monday of this year, approximately 42,000 trips were made to and around the CBD. Whilst this was a decrease compared to the same Monday in 2020, the number of trips increased to approximately 46,000 on Monday 1st of February 2021.
