In light of the recent COVID-19 cluster in NSW’s Northern Beaches, DSpark has analysed the movement patterns of residents in the area since the NSW Government requested them to remain at home.
After an initial analysis of Avalon and Palm Beach, it has been observed that as of 18 December 2020, the number of residents limiting their travel to within 10 km of their place of residence has increased as per the following chart, implying that locals are following government requests.
The chart conveys a clear increase of Northern Beaches residents remaining at home or close to home compared to the days prior to 18 December. It is also observed that on the morning of 19 December, the percentage of residents from the areas of Bondi, Tamarama and Bronte who are remaining within 10 km of their place of residence is lower than the days prior, indicating that people may be travelling or going away for the weekend.
